Ingredients

Figs are available fresh in the spring and dried year-round. Fresh figs have a thin skin that is easy to peel. Look for fruit with smooth, plump skin; it should feel firm in the hand, not mushy. Fresh figs are a good source of fiber and potassium and small amounts of minerals.

Cooking Instructions

Fresh figs can be eaten raw and once ripe should be refrigerated and used within a day or so. Dried figs can last a month or more if kept in a cool dark spot.
