Grape Basics

Grapes are not too high in sugar to be enjoyed, a serving of 17 grapes carries the same amount of sugar and calories as a small apple. Grapes should be picked ripe as they do not ripen off the vine. Look for organic grapes whenever you can, many grapes are treated with antimicrobial spray and can last two months in the refrigerator. Untreated grapes will last about three days in the refrigerator. Look for plump grapes and exam the stems; they should look clean and fresh. About one third of all grapes are dried and made into raisins.

Cooking Instructions

Serve grapes raw or freeze and eat instead of candy.
