Plums are available in late spring, and they come in a variety of shapes and sizes; the flavor and sweetness varies with each variety so taste one to see which you like. I usually prefer the large purple plum with dark fleshy fruit. Prunes are like freestone peaches meaning their pit easily separates from the fruit. A good source of fiber and Vitamin C, prunes are a great way to satisfy a sweet tooth.
Use fresh fruit quickly once ripe. Store ripe fruit in the refrigerator.
